Château Guipière, Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine Sur Lie ‘La Grange’ Vieilles Vignes 2021
- producer: Château Guipière
- region: Loire Valley
- country: FRA
- grape variety: melon de bourgogne
Château Guipière was founded in 1842 in the Loire Valley. The estate covers 28 hectares and grows two of the region’s most famous grapes. The first is melon de bourgogne which is bottled under its much more well-known AOP Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine. The second is gros plant (a.k.a. folle blanche), a racy, highly mineral white variety. In 2015, the estate was purchased by Philippe Nevoux and is now managed by Stéphane Gouraud, the vineyard manager and cellarmaster. They are currently pursuing an organic certification and will be fully certified for the 2024 vintage. In order to showcase the true nature of their terroir and their commitment to the changing region, Château Guipière only does single-vineyard bottlings.
A very floral and aromatic Muscadet that is aged on the lees for a year. Dry with nutty hazelnut earthiness and yellow apple notes. Excellent with meaty fish.
