- producer: Las Jaras
- region: California
- country: USA
-
grape variety: zinfandel, carignan, petite sirah, vermentino
Las Jaras was founded by winemaker Joel Burt and famed comedian Eric Wareheim in Sonoma County in the early 2000s. They both gravitated toward more natural and low intervention wines and now work only with certified and practicing organic vineyards in California and Oregon to source their grapes. They released their first vintage in 2015, with the now famous, “Sweet Berry Wine,” a bold but lively red with a portrait of Eric’s comedy partner John C. Reilly on its label.
Lively and juicy with a nose full of blackberry, red plum and cocoa and cherry, boysenberry and a zippy acidity on the palate. Las Jaras donates a portion of the proceeds from this bottle to the La Luz Center.
