Les Chemins de Bassac, Roussane 2020

Winemakers Thama and Bruno Trigueiro moved to Chemins de Bassac in 2016 when Thama’s brother offered the couple the job of caring for the French estate he had bought as an investment. The Trigueiro’s had been contemplating a life change because of Bruno’s crippling migraine headaches so they left their life as architects in Sao Paulo for Puimisson, France and winemaking. After a few years learning from the previous owners, Bruno and Thama took over control in 2019. Bruno’s history of migraines pushed the couple toward natural winemaking since the only way to keep his condition at bay was to stop eating and drinking industrialized produce. Their neighbor Jean-Francois Coutelou, a long-term pioneer of natural winemaking, became and continues to be a mentor. 

This skin contact roussanne  is richly perfumed and floral. Notes of soft sandalwood, honeysuckle and dried grass mingle on both the nose and the palate. While delicate in flavor, the mid-weight body means this wine is a nice pairing for heartier fish dishes, like swordfish and grilled octopus.
