In 1997 Catherine Roque, already vigneronne of Domaine de Clovallon, acquired Mas d’Alezon and its 7 hectares in the northern corner of Faugères. Alix Roque, Catherine’s daughter, took over as vigneronne of Domaine de Clovallon. Mas d’Alezon ‘s wines are produced by old and native grape varieties, cinsault, lledoner pelut, carignan or clairette du languedoc. The vineyards are practicing organic and biodynamic and are intermingled with chestnut, olive and almond trees.
The vibrant and light bodied red is highly aromatic and fruity. Notes of wet hay and pollen on the nose add an earthy side to the fruit-driven palate that has strong notes of blueberries.
