In 1999, Doug Maragas bought the land that would become Maragas Winery in central Oregon. The land sits between the Smith Rock State Park and seven peaks of the Cascade Mountains. In 2004, Doug and his wife, Gina began planting European grapes on the farms. Now they grow 20 different types of varieties harvested from seven blocks on the 21-acre estate vineyard, including cabernet franc, tempranillo, syrah, pinot noir, sauvignon blanc, riesling and chardonnay.
Four days of skin contact and then aged in seasoned oak barrels. This is a wine to cozy up to a blazing fire with; notes of dried apricots, creme brulee and toffee.
