- producer: Pasaeli
- region: Aegean
- country: TUR
- grape variety: sidalan
Paşaeli is a family-owned Turkish estate founded by Seyit Karagözoğlu. Seyit, who was born and raised in İzmir, started his career in wine as an importer but switched over to growing Turkish indigenous grape varieties such as sultaniye, yapıncak, çalkarası, and karasakız in 2000. Sidalan is a variety native to north Kaz Dağları (aka Mount Ida) and is grown on the northern part of Mount Ida in the Bayramiç district Çanakale.
This is our first bottle of sidalan as we continue to explore Turkish wines. Notes of crunchy, red apple and ripe pear mingle with floral aromatics of marjoram and white flowers. The finish has a hazelnut richness from its 6 months of aging on the lees.
