Wildman Wines, ‘Piggy Pop Pét-Nat’ 2021 (1.5 ML)

Tim Wildman is a British-born Master of Wine (MW)  who runs his own portfolio wine business involving travel, education and film. Tim became an MW in 2008 with a dissertation on Australian wine, which is his professional specialty. Before he started making wine, he ran a travel business that immersed enthusiasts in Australian wine. He became inspired to try his hand at winemaking during a month-long trip to Australia and made a pét-nat with the collaboration of a couple of local producers. His first vintage was released in 2014 and he’s been making fun, crushable, almost psychedelic pét-nats ever since. 

Piggy Pop is a sparkling rosé that is a blend of nero d’avola, mataró (ie mourvèdre),  zibibbo, fiano and arneis. It’s 1.5 liters of crushable, holiday wine with notes of white strawberry and tart gooseberry set off with a touch of saline, a lively effervescence and finishing with a whiff of eucalyptus.
