Chinon-native Bertrand Sourdais began his career in Spain in his twenties. After making a name for himself, he worked at Mouton-Rothschild in Bordeaux, Santa Rita in Chile and in Priorat, Spain. In 2003, he returned to the Loire Valley to work with cabernet franc on his family’s estate, Domaine de Pallus. Pallus’ vines are well established, mostly over 45 years old, but Sourdais began converting his vineyards to biodynamic practices. He works exclusively with cabernet franc to this day.
This is the romantic ideal of Chinon. Lithe and strong with a smokey nose and peppery palate. Plum fruit, rosemary and florals.
