Il Mostro, or The Monster, is the newest venture of Poggio Anima, a company that produces single vineyard wines from sites around Italy. Il Mostro is their line that uses natural winemaking and some blending and uses grapes from certified organic vineyards. Their first vintages were in 2020 and began with ancestral method sparkling wines of the white and pink colors respectively. They’ve since expanded to still wines. This cuvee is named for an Italian legend about a river dragon named Thyrus, who attacked the city of Terni in the Middle Ages and was slain by a brave knight. The city has since worn the dragon in its coat of arms.

This orange only spends 12 hours on its skins before its ages on its lees in concrete for six months. Notes of lemon, basil and mandarin orange oil.
