Marco de Bartoli’s first love was cars and he spent his youth working on them at his family’s farm near Marsala. He went on to work as a professional race car driver before coming back to work in wine. He reconstructed his family’s old cellar and began working exclusively with the grillo grape. In 1984, Marco branched out to growing grapes on the island of Pantelleria and by the 90s, he had solidified his reputation as one of Marsala’s best winemakers. His three children joined the business in the mid 90s and continue to expand and work with white grape varieties indigenous to the region.

This wine is named for the sub-variety of catarratto (‘lucido’) from which the wine is made. The expression is a bright, fresh island wine with a good acidic structure with notes of orange blossom, almonds and spices. Excellent with seafood.
